Ales for the Winter
Christmas Beers are Coming to Town
06/12/2008
Winter beers are once again among us, with a festive variety of flavours, and even different sizes and shapes. Among the specialties returning from previous years are Granville Island's Lions Winter Ale and Tree's Spiced Mid-Winter Ale (always a treat). Another perennial favourite is Nelson Brewing's Faceplant Winter Ale, now available in cans and bottles. A new one I spotted this year is Father John's Winter Ale from Howe Sound Brewing. Weighing in at 7% alcohol, it is a robust ale brewed with a variety of spices and comes in a 1 litre flip-top bottle. So lots of tasty options to complement the usual fine BC beers over the winter months. Your local brewpub is bound to have a special winter beer, and I'm sure there are others out there - let me if I've missed your favourite. Happy Holidays!
