Paul and Tim's Original Ale (Brown Ale, 5.5%) - (No longer available) Short-lived vanity brew, originally used to replace the E.S.B. because the company felt the term 'bitter' scared off too many customers. (Those that weren't scared off were probably disappointed with lack of bitterness.) The result is a hearty brown ale with robust malty flavour and a nice dry hoppy finish.

The best beer ever! Back at UBC we used to call this the nectar of the gods. I always feared the name bitter was scaring off customers even though we did our bit! Still looking for a replacement for this delicious beer!

I loved this brew. I was devastated when the local liquor store stopped selling it. Gone but not forgotten...

One can discuss taste, not fight about it ! Le gout, ca se discute ! This was the best beer (ale) I had ever taste. I was so impressed, I even bought a t-shirt and glasses (first time ever doing this beer shirt thing)when I visited the new brew house in '97. Too bad we can't get Shaftbury in Quebec, I use to buy it on a regular basis when I lived in BC ('94-'97) Keep on brewing, we'll keep on enjoying. CHEERS !
