Brewed as a California Common, aka Steam Beer, which is a hybrid style based on lager yeasts fermented at ale temperatures and meant as a tasty session ale. It's a decent, drinkable beer, but something about the malt/hop balance or perhaps choice of hop variety seems to make it less than the sum of its parts.
