New Breweries!
B.C. Craft Brewing Scene Continues to Expand with 4 New Breweries on the Way
10/10/2011
The craft brewing scene has ebbed and flowed since the late 1980's, with a general upward trend in the number of microbreweries and brewpubs. There seems to be a bit of a surge in 2011, with at least four new breweries in the works, located in different areas of the province.
These include:
- Hoyne Brewing Co. in Victoria: expected Nov, 2011. - Firehall Brewery in Oliver: construction well underway, watch their twitter feed for news. - Coal Harbour Brewing in Coal Harbour: website is up, but no content as of this writing. - Townsite Brewing in Powell River: according to an article in the Powell River Peak from November, 2010, a plan is in the works to turn the old post office there into a brewery.
So some exciting news for beer enthusiasts in the province. Best of luck to the folks involved, and look forward to tasting these new beers.
