17th Annual Okanagan Fest-of-Ale!
Okanagan's Biggest Beer Festival in Penticton (April 13-14, 2012)
06/04/2012
It's that time of year again, when beer fans from around the Okanagan gather at the Penticton Fest-of-Ale to indulge in the latest offerings from some of the finest breweries in the province and beyond.
As has been the case in the last few years, due to the popularity of this event, tickets are only available in advance, and can be purchased online.
With dozens of breweries on hand, there's always highlights each year, and of course these depend on a person's taste, but a couple of noteworthy things to look for this year:
- Small, local breweries: Some breweries do not operate at a level where there products are widely distributed, so it is great to have a chance to taste some of the fine ales and lagers from brewers like Crannog, Mt. Begbie, Old Yale, Dead Frog.
- New breweries: Firehall Brewery from Oliver will be debuting at the Fest-of-Ale, after starting up in recent months.
- Breweries from out of province: Washington state breweries have been influential on the BC brewing scene, so it is always appreciated when breweries like Alpine and Port Townsend make the trek to share some of their beers with us. On the Canadian side of the border, the folks from Paddock Wood are once again making the trek from Saskatoon to showcase their wares.
So some potential highlights in and amongst all the great beer - and great conversations - that will be happening at the Okanagan Fest-of-Ale. Cheers!
